Found an error? Tell us — this is the message we most want
Accuracy is the entire product here, so a correction is more useful to us than almost anything else you could send. A report we can act on quickly usually has three things in it:
- The page URL and, if you can, the sentence. A quoted phrase lets us find the claim without guessing which of several statements you mean.
- What is wrong. A misread study, an outdated figure, a dose stated in the wrong units, a citation that does not support the claim attached to it — the category helps us judge urgency.
- The source that shows what is right. A PubMed ID, DOI or link to the primary literature. We will read it.
What happens next: we verify against the primary source rather than taking either side on trust. If the claim was wrong we change it, note the change, and update the page's last-reviewed date. If the claim was right we will write back and tell you why we think so, with the citation. Either way you get an answer. The full policy is on our editorial standards page.
What we cannot answer
Two kinds of message arrive regularly that we have to decline, and it is fairer to say so here than to leave you waiting on a reply.
- Personal medical questions. We are not clinicians and we do not have your history, your medications or your bloodwork. We cannot tell you whether a compound is safe for you, what dose to take, or whether to stop something you have been prescribed. Those are questions for a licensed clinician who can examine you — see our medical disclaimer.
- Where to buy prescription drugs without a prescription. We do not know, we would not say, and we do not link to grey-market vendors. Where legitimate routes exist we describe them openly, as on rapamycin cost and access.
Reply times, and what to expect
We aim to reply within two business days. Corrections get looked at first because a wrong claim sitting live is the one problem that compounds. Reader questions about the evidence on a page — why we graded a trial the way we did, why a compound sits in one tier rather than another — are welcome and usually answered in the same window.
Commercial enquiries are handled separately.
